NCC Reports UK Motorhome Sales Rise

According to NCC, UK motorhome sales are increasing with the majority being attributed to people new to the motorhome market.

The trade body of the UK caravan industry reported a 20.4% increase in new motorhome registrations for March 2016 compared to March 2015. As a whole, new registrations in 2016 were up from the previous year by 20%, equating to £150 million in retail value.

The growth has been put down to a number of different factors including the production of more ‘attractive and innovative products’ according to John Lally, NCC director. He says that he believes the growth will continue for the ‘foreseeable future’ adding that he believes we could see a record amount of sales for motorhomes in the UK. He said: ” As manufacturers increase production capacity and build even more attractive and innovative products that can be used year round, consumers, from young families to retired couples, will keep being drawn to the motorhome proposition.”

On top of these figures, 2015 showed that there has been an increase of 21% in new registrations, meaning the UK’s motorhome market is growing rapidly and way beyond other countries.

John Lally added that short breaks and staycations will have another good year again, and that breaks of one to three nights are repsonsible for two thirds of English holidays which is the type of holiday perfectly suited to motorhoming. he said: “Whether it’s a last minute weekend away, supporting an outdoor activity like mountain biking, or indeed the longer annual summer holiday, motorhomes make it all possible.”
