It’s a family affair at Travelworld

It’s been said that blood and business don’t mix – but Erwin Hymer Centre Travelworld has proved that doesn’t always have to be the case.

The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree at Travelworld in Stafford, where three generations of motorhome enthusiasts work happily side-by-side, making it a family affair.

Heading up the family affair is owner Bob Edwards, who launched Travelworld Motorhomes in 1977, becoming one of the first ever UK based American RV dealerships.

Bob’s children Ross Edwards and Annabel Edwards joined the business full-time in 1998 and are now managing director and customer service manager respectively.

And, more recently, Bob’s grandchildren Jake Macquarie (sales controller), Harry Price (marketing assistant) and April Macquarie (marketing executive) have joined the team.

“There are plenty of people who will tell you not to mix business with pleasure – and certainly not business with family,” said Ross.

“But it’s never been a problem for us and we believe it’s actually one of our biggest strengths.

“We are proud to be a long-standing family business. I think the fact that we know each other so well really helps us to deliver for our customers.

“Long may it continue. Who knows, maybe we’ll be able to add more family faces to the team one day?”

Not that Travelworld is a closed shop to non-family members. The growing business employs 68 people across sales, customer services, service centre, windscreens and accessories, including several in its state-of-the-art 1,000 square metre workshop. The motorhome dealership sells new and used german motorhomes and has a range of camper vans for sale.

Ross said: “We really do have a tremendous team with a wealth of experience in every area. There’s a real passion to provide excellent service right across the board, whether that’s to people buying a new motorhome or coming in for an MOT.”
