Supporting International Women’s Day 2019

In honour of International Women’s Day 2019 on Friday 8th March 2019, we are running an internal ‘Women at Work’ workshop at our showrooms in Stafford. We already run diversity and equality training programmes, so it’s a great opportunity to promote and explore the subjects and issues that predominantly affect women at work. The course will include talking to employees about climbing the career ladder, flexible working opportunities and as this year’s International Women’s Day 2019 theme is #balanceforbetter, we will also be opening the discussion on balancing work and personal life. We want to provide a comfortable platform where women can discuss and support each other in business.

The International Women’s Day 2019 Workshop

Running the course is HR manager, Carol Huggins, who says: “Where possible and appropriate, I advise and encourage women to go for traditionally male roles, for example, parts and workshop positions. I would love to get more female apprentices on board but there is still sometimes the stigma of a ‘male dominated environment’ in our industry which needs to be addressed.”

Education To Encourage

Carol believes that education has helped encourage women become interested in subjects such as engineering and has allowed employers to build on their interest. She says it is hugely important to create balance at work and to have women in senior roles and believes there is still lots more that can be done to attract top female talent in the motorhome industry.

Erwin Hymer Centre Travelworld sells new and used German motorhomes and stocks a range of camper vans for sale. If you would like to find out more about our range of recreational vehicles, get in touch today.
