Long Weekend Away Ideas

This year, we are being treated to an extra day in the calendar, the 29th February so most people will look at having a long weekend away.

It is a day that comes along every four years and has become synonymous with women bucking tradition and proposing to men.

If proposals are not top of your agenda then there are plenty of other things you can do to appreciate that extra day.

As the 29th falls on a Monday it is the perfect appendage to a weekend away somewhere in your motorhome.

Whether it’s the extra day as a result of leap years or any other long weekend, long weekends mean an extra day, a little less rush and more time to enjoy something ‘extra’.

So why not try out something new…something you have always wanted to do but never got round to with your three hundred and sixty-sixth day?

Have a look at some of the suggestions we have to get you thinking about your long weekends away in your motorhome this year:

Long Weekend Away Ideas – Theatre Weekend

If you fancy a trip to the theatre then you don’t need to be bound by the distance to your local town or city.

Why not take your motorhome with you and visit one of the many theatres dotted around the UK?

You may not have thought about taking your motorhome to the capital but there are lots of different campsites around the city which leave you with only a tube journey into the West End.

There’s the Old Vic if you fancy a 19th century play; Shakespeare at the Globe; Guys and Dolls at the Savoy Theatre or a concert at the London Palladium.

Long Weekend Away Ideas – Music Festival Weekends

A music festival weekend is the perfect opportunity to explore the country in your motorhome and fit in some good old fashioned fun too.

Festivals are becoming a new staple in the culture vulture’s diet so embrace the possibility of rain and take your poncho and wellies!

If you want to take your motorhome to one of these events though, it is usually pretty easy.

You can often park at the venue or close by and it’s the perfect way to have fun with friends without having to worry about where to stay.

The Isle of Wight Festival is headlining the Stereophonics and Queen this June; Stone Roses have confirmed they are playing at T in the Park in July and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Courteeners will be at the Leeds and Reading Festivals.

Long Weekend Away Ideas – Car Shows

If cars are your thing then why not have a look at some of the car shows that are planned this year.

Car Fest North and Car Fest South will be happening at Oulton Park, Cheshire from the 31 July – 2 August and Laverstoke Park, Hampshire from the 28 – 30 August, respectively.

Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans set up the event a few years ago to raise money for Children in Need.

It’s a day out for all the family with not just cars but music also on the programme.

There’s also a huge choice of classic car shows, including Passion for Power at Tatton Park, Manchester in August; the International Ford Show in Surrey at the end of April and the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Essex at the end of June.
